Grid of Nine (Sparrows)

This lone sparrow was the last of his group to finally accept the tree they had always perched and frolicked in had been cut back to just a trunk by the owner of the garden. I passed by this tree every day on the walk to school with my children. As the days passed the numbers of sparrows perched nearby dwindled from more than twenty to this single bird. The idea to present this simple, sad story in a drawing with a very strong graphic style came to me and the day after I took these photos even he had vanished.
