Procession

I wanted this drawing to show the variety, beauty and splendour of the animal kingdom. In this way it is a celebration, however I see it also as the animals coming together and marching towards us in protest.

The elephants size and intricate textures grab attention first before the other animals gradually reveal themselves.

This drawing is the first in the series where I group animals together in compositions where their shapes, sizes, textures, patterns and character become the subjects beyond simply the animals themselves.

Charcoal on paper, 2016
